I’ve seen a lot of comments about how DaBoy is posting so I wanted to give some proper context
As a parent, and someone who has spent many years working within esports and digital, I’ve always been very clear about one thing, numbers matter
That’s not something I’ve just told him, it’s something I’ve been preaching to players, orgs and people I’ve worked with for years There are plenty of people in the scene who can vouch for that, I’ve always talked about numbers because that’s what my work has been built around
Numbers equal money for an organization Numbers for a player can mean partnerships, opportunities and a completely different path forward
And overall, numbers are something every single organization looks at when they evaluate how to invest, who to sign and how to grow
That’s just the reality of the industry
So what do you think I tell him when he says he wants to take Counter Strike seriously
My advice was simple build your socials alongside your elo
Make sure you’re not just grinding in silence, because no matter how good you are, if no one sees you, no one hears you, it becomes a much longer and harder road
Of course there is the traditional path, grind your way to the top purely through skill but that path takes time, it’s extremely competitive and everyone wants to be the next big name
So we’ve talked, analyzed and gone back and forth on ideas He’s bounced thoughts with me here and there, but 95 percent of what he posts is on his own initiative
And honestly, that’s what I’m most proud of how he’s taking action, testing things, learning both in game and on socials at the same time
Because this isn’t about being perfect it’s about getting started and improving over time
test post create shitpost sometimes share your thoughts, your memes, your highlights, whatever you find interesting
That’s how you build something real
For context, I’m not even active on X anymore I took a big step away from the scene a few years ago to focus on a different career path I barely play games today
But that doesn’t mean I’m not here supporting him I’ll show up to LANs, events and whatever competitions he manages to reach in the future
That part hasn’t changed
And if there’s one thing I want more young players to understand it’s this
you don’t have to wait you don’t have to be “ready”
start now build your numbers build your voice build your presence
share what you enjoy, share your journey, don’t overthink it
because in the end, it’s the combination of skill and visibility that opens doors in this industry
